Every Custom Outdoor System Starts With Three Questions
No two outdoor security projects are exactly alike.
Different sites have different equipment, environments, power requirements, and deployment needs. One project may call for a permanent solar-powered camera system.
Another may need surveillance and emergency communication along a remote perimeter.
Another might not involve cameras at all.
That's why at Sun Surveillance, we don't start every project by simply pointing to a product.
We start by asking three questions:
What do we need to power?
Where do we need to power it?
On what platform?
The answers to those three questions give us the foundation to engineer a system around the exact application.
1. What Do We Need to Power?
It starts with the technology.
What cameras are you using? Are there radios, speakers, radar, intercoms, lighting, or other devices that need power?
Every piece of equipment has its own requirements, which can influence everything from power generation and battery storage to wiring, mounting, and enclosures.
That's why we don't limit customers to a predetermined equipment package. You tell us what technology you want to use, and we engineer the supporting system around it.

Sometimes, that leads to configurations that look very different from a traditional surveillance system.
For one perimeter security project, we needed to power Verkada cameras and intercom technology alongside a Pedestal PRO Emergency Wall. The result was a custom solar-powered pole that brought surveillance, communication, and emergency response equipment together on one purpose-built system.
2. Where Do We Need to Power It?
Next comes location.
A camera operating in a parking lot may have very different requirements from equipment deployed along a remote perimeter, at a construction site, on a campus, or at an industrial facility.
Where the system will operate can influence available power, solar requirements, installation methods, equipment placement, and the overall design.
For solar applications in particular, location matters. The system needs to be engineered around both the equipment it's powering and the environment where it will operate.
We're not just asking, “Can we power this equipment?”
We're asking, “How do we reliably power this equipment here?” That's how we engineer our systems to provide reliable power 24/7/365.
3. On What Platform?
Once we know what needs power and where it needs power, we can determine the platform that makes the most sense.
Does the application call for a permanent installation? Does the equipment need to be added to an existing pole? Does the entire system need to move around a site? Does it need to be rapidly deployed and relocated?
The answer might be a Solstice Pole, Solstice Kit, PowerBridge, H-Base, Solstice Trailer, or a configuration designed specifically for the application.
And the platform doesn't necessarily have to be used the way you might expect.

For one project, the answer to our first question wasn't cameras at all. It was lighting.
The customer needed solar-powered lighting that could be relocated as needs around the site changed. We configured an H-Base system to support the solar and lighting equipment while maintaining its forklift-moveable design.
The result was a self-contained mobile lighting system built around exactly what the customer needed.
Three Questions. Countless Custom Configurations.
Those two projects look completely different, but they started in exactly the same place.
What do we need to power?
Where do we need to power it?
On what platform?
Sometimes the answers lead to one of our standard configurations. Other times, they lead to something we've never built before.
That's where customization comes in.
We can engineer around specific cameras and devices, power loads, locations, mounting requirements, mobility needs, and other unique aspects of an application to create a system designed for the project rather than asking the project to fit the system.
You bring us the application. We'll help engineer the system around it.
